Emma Corrin was known as Princess Diana in “The Crown”. Back then, the job offer was “like a marriage proposal”.

Emma Corrin (25) became internationally known as Princess Diana in the Netflix hit “The Crown”. The series star now recalls in an interview with the US magazine “People” back to how the role came about back then. While working on the third season, Corrin entered the set for the first time to practice a scene several times with Josh O’Connor (31, Prince Charles) and to check whether the two would have enough chemistry in their game together.

Director Ben Caron (45) then went down on his knees and asked Corrin: “Do you want to be Diana?” For the future star of the series, it “felt like a marriage proposal”.

Colleague O’Connor is “simply the best friend”

Among other things, alongside Olivia Colman (47), who gives Queen Elizabeth II, Corrin is nominated at the 73rd Emmy Awards in the category “Best Actress in a Drama Series”. Even some friends of Princess Diana, who died in a car accident in 1997, had contacted Corrin: “It was really wonderful to hear how much it meant to them.”

Corrin has a special bond with O’Connor: “He’s just the best friend I could have wished for. He always gave me my backing. We have a very similar sense of humor and things like that. […] I am very, very grateful to have had him by my side and to have him by my side now too. “
