Emma Corrin: She sees parallels between Meghan and Diana

Emma Corrin compares Duchess Meghan with Lady Di. The actress plays the late princess in the Netflix series "The Crown".

Emma Corrin (22), who plays Princess Diana (1961-1997) in the fourth season of the Netflix series "The Crown", sees clear parallels between Duchess Meghan (39) and her late mother-in-law, especially when it comes to dealing with the press goes. In an interview with the British magazine "Town and Country", the actress said: "You want to shake these newspapers and ask: don't you see that history repeats itself?"

In her preparation for her big Netflix role, Corrin spent a lot of time studying Princess Diana. She notes, "The cold, the traditions, and the expectations of her behavior … I don't think Diana expected that. I think she expected to join a family."

Prince Harry also sees the parallels

"My biggest fear is that history will repeat itself," said Prince Harry (36) about the similarity of the two most important women in his life in a statement that the Duke of Sussex published in October 2019. In it he spoke about the "ruthless" treatment of his wife by the British tabloids. He saw what happens when someone is made "a commodity" and is no longer seen as a person. "I lost my mother and now I watch my wife fall victim to the same powerful violence," feared the prince months before the couple announced their retirement as senior royals.

Princess Diana died in a car accident in a Paris tunnel in July 1997 after a chase by paparazzi. Meghan and Harry resigned from the royal family in March and now reside in California with their one-year-old son Archie.
