Emmanuel Macron “confronted several times” at the end of life: his experience with loved ones

It is a bill that many French people are waiting for or fearing. During the month of April, after making a promise to Line Renaud to engage in this fight, Emmanuel Macron will present a bill on the end of life to the Council of Ministers. In the columns of Release, this Monday, March 11, the President of the Republic reveals the first main lines of this text. Brigitte Macron’s husband affirms that it will not be a question of euthanasia or assisted suicide, but of the possibility of requesting “assisted dying” according to several conditions. During his interview with the newspaper, the head of state revealed in particular the reasons which pushed him to join this fight.

While Emmanuel Macron assures that it is the numerous discussions with professionals or even with suffering people which pushed him to look more into the subject, the journalist asks the President of the Republic if the difficult end of life of the one of his relatives could also have been a factor in his decision, the politician then replied: “Yes, I have been confronted with this situation several times. But if intimate experience is to shed light, it is one light among others.”

We are all counting on your empathy and hope that you will allow the very sick and hopeless French people to get better, to stop their suffering when they know that there is no longer any relief possible”can we read in the singer’s letter to the President of the Republic published in the Sunday Tribunee in December 2023. A message which greatly touched the father-in-law of Tiphaine Auzière as he further affirmed in his interview with Release : “I received many letters including that of Françoise Hardy, which touched me a lot. Artists, many anonymous people are engaged on this subject.” A bill therefore eagerly awaited for some.
