Emmanuel Macron unveiled Thursday in Saint-Nazaire the main lines of the bill on the acceleration of renewable energies. The President has set the objective of allowing the installation of wind turbines at sea and on land twice as quickly as today, in an attempt to match our European neighbors, and respond more effectively to the energy crisis.
Emmanuel Macron wants to speed up “at the same time” on energy issues. He wants to benefit from more wind turbines, but also from more nuclear power. But a question arises: will he be able to do it? Because no one can ignore it – Emmanuel Macron the first – but the deal has changed in the Assembly. On a file as sensitive as energy, as divisive as wind turbines or nuclear power, the tenant of the Elysee Palace knows it, he has no certainty that his words will turn into action.
An almost impossible mission in the Assembly
The Left Alliance, anti-nuclear, will do everything to block measures aimed at facilitating the establishment of new power stations, when on the other side of the hemicycle, the deputies of the Republicans or the National Rally will not be more favorable to wind turbines. With a relative majority, the crest line of the executive is therefore similar on these issues to an atom, exactly as for the pension reform.
Give the illusion of still having control
Extension of the contribution period or acceleration of renewable energies, it is in fact the same fight for the Head of State, who since the start of the school year has been working to multiply on all subjects, always displaying the same proactive face. . “We set the tempo”, welcomes one of his advisers.
And this is indeed the presidential strategy: to occupy the space to place oneself at the center of the political game. It’s a way like any other to give the illusion of still having control, despite the blocking situation.
