Emmanuel Macron: which ministers will be reappointed if he is re-elected as president?

After officially running for the 2022 presidential election on March 3, outgoing President Emmanuel Macron is, according to Le Canard Enchaîné, already thinking about his next government.

New redesign on the horizon? Our colleagues at Chained Duck recently made some revelations about the plans of outgoing President Emmanuel Macron if he wins the presidential election. Indeed according to them, if the president who waited until March 3 to officially present his candidacy for the 2022 election is re-elected, “He’s going to do a big spring cleaning” and “will renew very few outgoing ministers”. A message that the President of the Republic would not take the trouble to hide within his current government. Always according to Chained Duck which reports the remarks of members of Emmanuel Macron’s party, the latter would have decreed: “I will not keep more than four or five ministers”.

Something to blow a great wind of change on the government, which has already undergone several important changes during Emmanuel Macron’s first term. In the event that he emerges victorious in the second round, Emmanuel Macron nevertheless intends to keep “barely more than a quarter of the sixteen outgoing ministers” according to Chained Duck. And who says dismissals also says hires, which means that several Secretaries of State could quickly have promotions to head certain ministries. One of the big questions, however, remains whether the Prime Minister, Jean Castex, who follows Edouard Philippe, could be part of the political staff from whom Emmanuel Macron wants to separate or not. According to the words of a close associate of the president reported in Le Parisien on March 16, the question is “will it be necessary to reshuffle from April 25 or keep Jean Castex until the legislative elections?.

Emmanuel Macron already has an idea for the next prime minister

What is certain is that, according to Paris Matchthe president already has someone in mind in case Jean Castex would not like to re-enlist for a new year. Senator François Patriat had thus declared that “Julian [Denormandie, ndlr] has a head and a heart. He is in affect with everyone. And he has a form of humility that is not artificial. He’s the president’s favorite son.”. The Minister of Agriculture and Food could therefore be approached for the prestigious position of Prime Minister in the event that Jean Castex prefers to withdraw.
