Emotions are boiling – calls on the net for excesses of violence on the Praterstern

Since Leonie was killed last Saturday night in Vienna’s Danube city, emotions have been boiling in all camps. While two possible perpetrators have been imprisoned and Dominik Nepp (FPÖ) is demanding deportations, some Afghans announce a fight on Vienna’s Praterstern.

On Saturday, a few hours after Leonie’s body was found, the situation at Maria-Restituta-Platz in front of the Vienna Handelskai escalated. Videos can be seen how a police officer has to fix a raging youth on the ground. Threats fall, the twelve-year-old (!) Beats and kicks the head of the officer, trying to draw his weapon. A 13 and a 14 year old boy are also involved in the dispute.

Three police officers injured
The result: three injured police officers. The three boys were temporarily arrested and subsequently reported at large, Vienna’s police spokesman Daniel Fürst confirmed the incident. During the operation, forces from the WEGA and dog units were also called in as reinforcement.

A weapon was also involved in the arrest of the third suspect in the Leonie case at the Michelbeuern U6 station. The Afghan pulled a knife before he could be overpowered.

Call to mass brawl
Now there are calls for a mass brawl planned for Saturday at the Praterstern – the “Krone” has it. There will probably also be a large number of police on site.

The blues are appalled by the excesses of violence. Vienna’s FPÖ boss Dominik Nepp calls for zero tolerance and deportations.
