PARIS, January 16 (Reuters) – Three people died in Reunion Island during the passage of Cyclone Belal, Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin announced on Tuesday.
“We discovered two other bodies which were clearly those of homeless people who had refused emergency accommodation. There would therefore have been three deaths in Reunion,” declared Gérald Darmanin, who spoke to the National Assembly. will fly this Tuesday to the island where the red alert has been lifted
The cyclone “no longer represents a threat” for Reunion where weather conditions were improving on Tuesday, the prefecture announced earlier, which nevertheless advises caution, particularly on the roads.
The lifting of the cyclone red alert allows a resumption of the activity of shops and businesses. The reopening of schools is scheduled for Monday.
