Epic, the first world boss of Diablo IV spins shivers

The beta of Diablo 4 allowed to discover one of the novelties of the game: the world bosses. These are colossal adversaries that spring up in the world of Sanctuary, and require players to unite to win. The clashes are epic.

In order to modernize its famous hack’n’slash, Blizzard thought of sprinkling Diablo IV a few elements inspired by MMOs, such as World of Warcraft. This avenue, already explored in Diablo Immortal (the mobile version of the game), supposes the integration of random events that can be shared with others. The open beta, the first phase of which took place on the weekend of March 18-19, allowed you to rub shoulders with a world boss – a very, very big chunk.

Gather your group and get ready. Ashava is hungry. Diablo IV’s First World Boss Will Appear Four Times During Open Beta Early Access This Weekend “, To tweeted Blizzard on March 17. World bosses are the most impressive enemies in Diablo IV. They only appear at scheduled times, and you have to go to a place indicated on the map to try your luck. What I did twice during the weekend, for a failure and a triumph.

What is a world boss in Diablo IV ?

The first meeting was therefore scheduled for Saturday, at 6 p.m. I was ready to do battle with this Ashava in the company of Julien, my faithful colleague who is also a fan of Diablo 4. We were not at the end of our troubles. Arriving at the location indicated, located in the south east of the region, what was our surprise to see the camera zoom out and show a dozen players fighting against a huge creature, capable of killing anyone in one fell swoop. The staging willingly plays on the epic nature of the situation to accentuate the bitterness of the fight – and the urgency to fight, because there is a 15-minute countdown to defeat her. Unfortunately for us, the count was going down faster than the boss’s health bar.

A demon with immense upper limbs, Ashava does not lace up. When she is not swinging sprays of poison, she gratifies the audience with a circular attack likely to sow the corpses all around her. Above all, she may take ax, arrows and other fireballs, she does not flinch a hair. The result is a Dantesque confrontation, which requires players to learn its movements to better anticipate its fatal blows. When you die, either you resurrect nearby to re-enter the battle (losing 10% of the durability of your equipment in the process), or you wait for an ally, unknown a few minutes before, to give you a hand, putting us back on our feet.

Despite our best efforts, we arrived too late with Julien, and the clock showed the number zero before Ashava passed away, leaving behind a few pieces of loot anyway — a failure animation then triggered, showing the monster going back to the depths of the world. The next day, alone, but determined and better prepared, I went back to meet him (at 9 a.m. on Sunday). I got a little ahead, noticing with amazement that Blizzard pushed the show to imagine a small introductory step. Waiting for Ashava to appear, a disgusting pit floods the screen. Like the sign of a disastrous fate. Impressive.

My second meeting with Ashava ended in victory, even if it was played by nothing: there was barely 1:30 left before she failed again – which makes the fight all the more beautiful, because we have to hurry. The feeling of pride was immense, the joy immeasurable — completed by this success built together, in solidarity and self-sacrifice. You have the opportunity to play the next beta phase of Diablo IV (the weekend of 25/26) ? Don’t miss this appointment.
