Ericsson: develops 5G network in India

(CercleFinance.com) – Ericsson today announced the introduction of ultra-light Massive MIMO 32T32R radios to be produced in India. Energy efficient, they come with coverage enhancement features that make them relevant for a country like India.

Thanks to their reduced weight, these Ericsson radios facilitate installations on towers, roofs, poles and walls.

This news comes at the same time as the report on the ‘promise of 5G’ in India, carried out by Ericsson ConsumerLab. The study reveals that more than 100 million users with adapted smartphones want to switch to a 5G subscription in 2023.

Of those planning to switch to 5G, 36% plan to switch to the best 5G network provider when it becomes available. These users are even willing to pay a 45% premium for a package with new experiences.

Nitin Bansal, Head of Ericsson India and Head of Network Solutions for Southeast Asia, Oceania and India, Ericsson, said: 5G will play an important role in achieving the digital inclusion goals of India, in particular by bringing broadband to rural and isolated households. ‘
