With more than 50,000 new cases identified each year, breast cancer is today the most widespread of female cancers. In France, around 20,000 women undergo breast removal each year. In total, it is estimated that close to 250,000 women have undergone a mastectomy (single or double), of which only 20% to 30% have chosen breast reconstruction. After the operation, women must learn to accept their new breasts, to live without the symbol of their femininity. A long and painful fight.

To help them in this reappropriation of the body, more and more brands are launching their collection of post-mastectomy lingerie. But until now, post-operative lingerie has always been almost non-existent. The only models intended for operated breasts were only found in pharmacies, a place reminiscent of the disease. To make up for the lack of supply on the market and allow women affected by breast cancer to keep or regain the pleasure of wearing beautiful lingerie, Etam is launching yes !, its first collection of post-mastectomy lingerie.

Existing brands are not very fun. We are very limited in our choices.

Helping women regain their femininity

Available from June 23, this post-operative lingerie collection is a small revolution in the fashion world. To embody it, seven muses agreed to share their story, their relationship to lingerie and femininity after the operation. Among them is Karine, 26, who says that it is important to feel beautiful for yourself and no longer for others. "It is not because we no longer have hair, that we are not wearing makeup and that we have one less breast, that we are not pretty"says the young woman. For Karine, 50, this new collection signed Etam"will make things a little glamorous".

For her part, Angélique, 26, tells us what post-cancer looks like, part of the disease that we often forget … "There is a lot of talk about cancer screening and treatments – which is great! – but we rarely talk about what happens afterwards. Of those women who stay with an asymmetrical or completely flat chest. Because there are many who do not get rebuilt!"she says. A true and touching testimony, more than necessary to realize how invisible these women are."Not only have we undergone difficult things but, in addition, we are forgotten, it's a double trouble … Me, I'm looking for sexy and feminine lingerie … Fun, sexy and affordable! ", says Sabrina, 38.

Yes! it's the start of a new life. Hope to meet again but changed for the better.

A pretty, comfortable and affordable collection

To adapt to the needs of these doors, Etam has developed this collection with expert corsetry teams. Yes! takes shape around a lingerie line and a bath line. The bras are designed on the basis of 4 perennial shapes, with integrated pockets that can accommodate all types of prostheses. Organic cotton, eco-friendly microfiber and colorful and flowery lace, the materials are comfortable, soft and refined. The bras are designed without underwire and are available in basque triangles, scarf triangles or bras. And to support the launch of the yes! Range, Etam has partnered with MÊME cosmetics, the first dermo-cosmetic skincare brand dedicated to people affected by cancer. We can only applaud!
