In a Marvel film, the same rule applies during the credits: stay seated! In “Eternals”, patience pays off twice. Attention. Spoiler!
The new Marvel movie “Eternals” is taking the big screen. As always in the MCU: The audience should stay seated during the credits. In the new superhero flick, too, crucial new details are revealed in a mid-credit and a post-credit scene. Warning, spoilers!
Spoiler alert: new characters for the MCU
In the short scenes after the film, “Eternals” introduces four more characters. These could still play a major role in phase four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The Eternals team is already full of heroes: Sersi (Gemma Chan), Ikaris (Richard Madden), Sprite (Lia McHugh), Ajak (Salma Hayek), Thena (Angelina Jolie), Kingo (Kumail Nanjiani), Druig (Barry Keoghan ), Phastos (Brian Tyree Henry), Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) and Gilgamesh (Ma Dong-seok) are newcomers. For some of them, the screen adventure could go on, as the end of “Eternals” also reveals …
There is also another superstar, as the mid-credit scene shows: Harry Styles! He comes to the MCU as Eros, aka Starfox. His brief appearance at the end of “Eternals” takes place some time after the events of the film. Druig, Makkari and Thena left earth in their spaceship, the Domo. They are looking for more Eternals when suddenly a goblin-like creature appears. Followed by Eros, who not only knows the Eternals’ plan, but also wants to help them. Eros, himself an Eternal, is also the brother of Thanos – in contrast to him, however, he is considered a fun-loving journeyman and womanizer.
Eros’ companion on the Domo is Pip the Troll. In the comics, he reportedly has the ability to teleport. That could also explain how he, very tipsy, got on the spaceship with Eros.

Kit Harington’s character Dane Whitman initially appears in a supporting role in “Eternals”. He is in a relationship with Sersi, to whom he tries to explain during the film that his family history is a little more complicated. But he doesn’t get much further. It is only in the end credit scene that it becomes clear what he is suggesting. Dane Whitman nervously walks through a study until he opens an old chest on a desk. Inside is a sword that appears to have magical powers.
Harington will probably cause a stir in the future as “Black Knight” in the MCU. Previously, Danes uncle Nathan Garrett wore this title, which has existed for centuries, in the comics. In “Eternals”, Sersi asks Dane to make up with his uncle … The sword that is in the chest is probably the mighty, but also with a curse, the black blade, the “Ebony Blade”.
At the end of the scene with Harington an off-screen voice can also be heard. She asks the hesitant Dane if he’s ready. According to media reports, it is said to be Blade – played by Mahershala Ali. It was announced in 2019 that the actor would slip into the role. So are the two heroes going out together soon? The MCU future will tell.
