WhatsApp finally breaks one of the last barriers standing in the way of full compatibility between its Android and iOS platforms! According to a new leak, the messaging giant is getting ready to let you transfer chat histories from Android devices to iOS.

WhatsApp seems finally to have mercy and allow chat export between iOS and Android. While you’ve already been able to transfer your chat histories from Android to iOS, it’ll soon be the other way around. This was shown by screenshots that have now been published by WaBetaInfo colleagues.
Users have only been able to transfer their chat history from iOS to Android for a year. As of now, this is still limited to new Android 12 devices, among other things you already use the feature on Samsung Galaxy phones and the new Google Pixel 6 devices.
Now it finally looks like the opposite will be the case as well. According to WAbetaInfo specializing in WhatsApp features, the messaging app is gearing up to allow importing backups from Android to iOS. Will Catchcart, the head of WhatsApp, confirmed the possibility. However, he assumes sothat only Samsung Galaxy devices will be supported again.

Screenshots from the new WhatsApp beta 2/22/74 for iOS show a future prompt to confirm the transfer. Beta testers don’t have access to this feature yet, and we don’t know when it will be available. But the pictures look promising. Unfortunately, within the ecosystem, the process won’t be as effortless as users will likely need to transfer their files via the Move to iOS app.
When WAbeta last time presented similar information about iOS to Android migration, it took about a month for the feature to be released to the public. So I suspect we’ll be hearing more in the coming months.
