Eurofins: the compensation claimed by Lactalis is “unfounded”

(AOF) – The compensation claimed by Lactalis following the crisis of December 2017: is “an unfounded request by which Lactalis seeks to hide its own responsibility”. This is what the Eurofins group asserts following the unveiling at the beginning of the week of the proceedings initiated against it in the context of the affair of infant milk contaminated with salmonella, which affected dozens of babies at the end of 2017. Lactalis claims 1 billion euros to the analysis specialist, accusing him of not having detected bacteria in his products.

Ignoring the results of Eurofins’ analyzes “having notably revealed on several occasions since 2009 and again in August 2017 the presence in the Craon factory of the pathogen which contaminated the babies”, Lactalis “does not seem to have implemented in a manner appropriate the control and withdrawal procedures provided for in such cases”, considers the group,

He judges that an “adapted reaction would have made it possible to avoid the 2017 crisis”. Lactalis “does not provide any serious information regarding the damage suffered” adds Eurofins, emphasizing that the group “has continued to entrust analyzes” to its services from 2017 to today, “testifying to its confidence in the work carried out”.
