Europa League Conference: OM qualify for the quarters after their victory against Basel (2-1)

Olympique de Marseille clinched their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Europa League Conference by winning 2-1 against FC Basel.

They fought until the end. After their victory in the first leg against the Swiss club (2-1), the Marseillais had to keep this advantage during their trip to Basel. After a first half marked by a missed penalty from Amine Harit (35and), Olympique de Marseille did not give up.

If the Phocaeans started their second period well, the Swiss managed to open the scoring in the 63and thanks to the former Niçois Dan Ndoye.

At the 74th, Gerson overflowed on the left and crossed for Cengiz Ünder. Forgotten by the Basel defence, the Turk equalized with a nice recovery with his left foot.

In the very last minutes of the match (90th + 2), after a corner, Valentin Rongier finished the job, scoring the winning goal (2-1).

Note that Rennes, another French club involved in the Europa League Conference, was eliminated by Leicester. The Rennais however won the match (2-1) but this score did not allow them to make up for the two goals behind in the first leg.
