As the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar begins on Sunday, November 20, Europe 1 is setting up a special system around Lionel Rosso. On site, to comment on the matches and cover the event: Jean-François Pérès, head of the Europe 1 sports department, Jacques Vendroux and Cyrille de la Morinerie. The international player and captain of the French women’s team, Wendie Renard, will bring her expertise to the listeners.
Europe 1 Sport – special World Cup (7:15 p.m.-11 p.m.) :
Every day from 7:15 p.m. to 11 p.m., a special edition ofEurope 1 Sport, worn by Lionel Rosso surrounded by consultants, will come back to the news of the competition and will offer to follow the matches. A total of 19 matches will be broadcast on Europe 1 during the group stages, including all the matches of the French team live and in full. On site, the matches will be commented by Jean-Francois Pereshead of the sports department of Europe 1, Jacques Vendroux and Cyrille de la Morinerie. From 7:15 p.m. to 8 p.m., Lionel Rosso will offer a pre-match with an update on the different teams and the issues. And, meet at 8 p.m. to follow the meeting and from 10 p.m. for the debrief.
Sunday, November 20, Cedric Hunter will be on the air from 4 p.m. for the opening match, and will be throughout the competition in charge of the afternoons ofEurope 1 Sports. Listeners will find, throughout the day, regular points so as not to miss anything of the tournament, as well as exclusive content on Europe1.fr and the station’s social networks.

Wendie Fox, captain of the French women’s football team and eight-time champion of the Champions League with Olympique Lyonnais, joined Europe 1 as a consultant. It will offer listeners a “Journal of the World Cup” in duet with Jacques Vendroux, every day at 8:30 a.m. in Europe Morning – 7am-9am presented by Dimitri Pavlenko, in South Europe carried by Romain Desarbres, as well as at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday in Europe Morning weekendpresented by Lénaïg Monier.
