The European Union wants to avoid unraveling its sixth package of sanctions against Moscow.

The European foreign ministers, who meet this Monday in Brussels, will pale in comparison when their Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, joins them for an informal exchange devoted to the needs of his country at war. Eleven days of technical work and negotiations were not enough, at this stage, to adopt the sixth set of sanctions against Russia, due to a deadlock around the oil embargo. On Friday, several EU ambassadors were hopeful of reaching an agreement before the end of the month or even this week. Otherwise, the subject will be on the menu of the next European summit on May 30 and 31.
