When advertising for the young German national player Karim Adeyemi, the Bundesliga rivals FC Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund once again appear as direct competitors. His long-time sponsor Manfred Schwabl expects that Adeyemi, who is currently storming for Red Bull Salzburg in the Austrian Bundesliga, will be “expensive” when he will probably be available in the summer of 2022.
The president of SpVgg Unterhaching, who describes himself as a “mentor in the background” at Adeyemi (19), estimated the transfer fee on Sunday at the TV broadcaster Bild at 30 million euros “upwards”.
It came for 3 million euros
Born in Munich, Adeyemi played for FC Bayern as a child. Three years ago, at the age of 16, he moved from the Haching team to Salzburg for more than three million euros, where he is still under contract until 2024. Schwabl (55) enthused that he did not see “anywhere in Germany a striker” who had a similar goal rank as Adeyemi.
According to information from the TV broadcaster Sky, Bayern are intensifying their efforts to sign Adeyemi, who made his debut in the national team under the new national coach Hansi Flick in September. He has now made three international appearances and one goal. As Sky reports, there was a round of negotiations between the German record champions on Saturday in Munich with Adeyemi advisor Thomas Solomon and Adeyemi’s father Abbey Adeyemi. Haaland successor
In addition to Bayern, RB Leipzig and Dortmund as well as the English top club FC Liverpool with the German coach Jürgen Klopp are also interested in the Bundesliga. BVB in particular could need a successor for their top striker Erling Haaland for the coming season if he should change thanks to an exit clause. “FC Bayern would be stupid if they didn’t take care of such an issue,” commented ex-Bayern professional Schwabl.
His club would also earn money from an Adeyemi transfer. Schwabl expects “exciting weeks” and remarked: “He would also fit in with Dortmund in terms of the style of play.” The most important thing for a 19-year-old talent is not the money, but the sporting perspective. “He has to play,” said Schwabl. For Adeyemi, it is also a matter of recommending himself for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and the 2024 European Championship at home by means of playing time like in Salzburg with national coach Flick.
According to Sky information, Adeyemi wants to switch to the Bundesliga. His departure from Salzburg should therefore be as good as decided.
