Trump talks about boosters and gets boos
In a live interview by presenter Bill O’Reilly with Donald Trump, it is about the pandemic: The former US President raves about the vaccines that have saved many lives. When he told about his booster vaccination, he heard the displeasure of some followers.
Former US President Donald Trump said he had a booster vaccination against the corona virus – and was then booed by some supporters. “Both the President and I are vaccinated,” said Conservative presenter Bill O’Reilly at an event with Trump in Dallas, as seen from a video on O’Reilly’s No Spin News program.
The moderator then asked Trump whether he had received a booster vaccination. Trump answered the question in the affirmative – there were occasional loud reactions from the audience. “Not, not, not (…) no, no,” responded Trump and waved him off. “That’s okay, it’s a very small group over there.”
The 75-year-old had previously spoken about vaccinating against Covid-19. “If you don’t want to get it, you shouldn’t be forced to get it,” he said of the vaccination. At the same time he defended them. This saved numerous lives, he said.
Trump said in September that he would probably not be boosted. Elsewhere, however, he had also recommended people in the country to get vaccinated – but always emphasized that he believed in the freedom of the individual. Trump himself contracted Covid-19 shortly before the 2020 presidential election. He was being treated in a military hospital at the time.
US President Joe Biden is now relying on extensive vaccination requirements. He repeatedly calls for vaccinations and, unlike Trump, has also been vaccinated in front of the cameras. The vaccination campaign got off to a good start in the USA – but is now making slow progress. So far, 61.5 percent of the approximately 330 million people in the USA have been vaccinated twice. Almost 30 percent of them also received a booster vaccination.
