Indiana Jones is certainly one of the biggest Xbox cartridges of this year and it obviously has a big surprise in store for us. Xbox now has important exclusives, with Bethesda in particular. However, as with PlayStation, that doesn’t mean they won’t come to the competing console. We have some information on this subject!
For a while now, PlayStation and Xbox have been fighting against each other with major exclusives with a small advantage for the Sony console. On the one hand we had God of War, Uncharted, The Last of Us, etc. While on the other, we tried to get by with Halo, Gears of War and others. With the acquisition of Bethesda, Xbox hits a big blow and gains important licenses like fallout, DOOM, The Elder Scrolls and other newer games like Starfield and Indiana Jones and the Ancient Circle – freshly announced for 2024. However, we recently learned that, as with some of its competitor, these exclusives would only be temporary.
Indiana Jones ready to bring out the whip on PS5?
We’ve been hearing rumors about Hi-Fi Rush coming to other consoles for a while now. We also heard about Sea of Thieves and now it’s the turn of Starfieldand even potentially Halo. We can then think that all of Microsoft’s next exclusives will suffer the same fate, including Indiana Jones, the next action-adventure game from Bethesda! In any case, this is what The Verge speculates, which thinks that Indiana Jones could arrive on PS5 a few months after its Xbox release.
The latter is scheduled for December 2024, its arrival on the Sony console would not then take place until 2025. If the news is true, it would be really good news for hero lovers who swear by the PS5. Such an announcement would also put into perspective the arrival of very very big hits like the highly anticipated The Elder Scrolls VI, yet one of Xbox’s big playing cards. What if the game was finally released on PS5 too? Although it seems strange, the company ultimately has a lot to gain by making this choice.
A change of strategy for Microsoft
However, all this information should be taken with a grain of salt since we also know that these decisions are subject to major internal debates. Nothing is decided yet although it is said that an announcement on this subject would arrive shortly.
The arrival of these games on Sony’s machine would however not be trivial since, as XboxEra points out, Microsoft has already acquired PS5 development kits. This would mean that Xbox would be ready to do without its exclusives in order to become a third-party publisher for other media and thus be able to expand absolutely everywhere. A choice which economically remains logical since as a result, the company could still significantly increase its revenues. Its capital has already increased greatly with the acquisition of Activision Blizzard King, surpassing those of PlayStation for the first time.
