There are all kinds of problems with Facebook at the moment. The social media giant is not only hit by a disruption, but also suffers from a spam wave. Numerous users complain about a cluttered feed.
The flood of spam seems quite random. Many on Twitter report that their Facebook feed is full of celebrity posts and memes. The postings seem to come from bots. The pages you actually follow and the posts from your friends are completely lost in the chaos.
It is still unclear what this bizarre wave of spam is all about and whether it is related to the disruption. Facebook has not yet taken a position. Due to the high level of bot activity, however, it cannot be ruled out that the action is related to a hacker attack.
