182,000 fake health passes were detected by the police

The authors came into contact with a fake pass trafficker via encrypted Telegram messaging. This one, explains the newspaper, did not need to usurp the identity of a doctor, as do other fraudsters, but benefits from the complicity of a practitioner within his family.

According to the newspaper, this network has been working for eight months and “on an industrial scale”, one of the beneficiaries told them.

Some 182,000 fake health passes have been detected by the police since the establishment of the device last summer, as part of 400 investigations, according to the latest report drawn up on December 20 by the Ministry of the Interior.

1000 euros fine

The deputies examine Monday the bill transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass. The text “strengthening the tools for managing the health crisis”, which will pass to the Senate from Wednesday, must come into force on January 15.

If it is adopted, it plans in particular to toughen the sanctions against holders of false passes, who will now be liable to a five-year prison sentence and a 75,000 euro fine, the same sanction as that applicable. to traffickers.

Finally, the fact of presenting a pass belonging to another person and the fact of transmitting a pass to others with a view to its fraudulent use will be punished from the first breach of a fixed fine of 1,000 euros, against 135 euros currently.
