Produce or use “false health passes” constitutes for Jean Castex a “deliberate act of endangering others” which “scandalizes”. The Prime Minister, this Monday, December 27, promised that the bill transforming the health pass into a vaccination pass would include a repressive component, which will make it possible to increase the number of checks and “an increase in sanctions”.
“No personal conviction can justify it”, hammered Jean Castex alongside the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran. “It is not admissible and we must collectively give ourselves the means to stop it, and to sanction it more heavily”. The tone is set: the law in preparation will put pressure on the approximately five million French people who still avoid vaccination, a fortiori on those who circumvent the consequences. In principle, the bill on the vaccine pass, which will be debated very soon in the Assembly. “means that in places where the pass has been applied for several months, (…) you will have to justify being vaccinated to be able to enter”.
The bill therefore provides that “the police will be able to access establishments open to the public (ERP) to carry out these checks”, announced the Prime Minister – who specifies that this sensitive point will have to await the opinion of the Council of State. The operators of these establishments, too, “will have the possibility, in case of proven doubt, to verify the identities themselves”. Jean Castex referred to “parliamentary debates” to establish the details of the control methods and the level of sanctions, which he nevertheless promised without ambiguity.
