fans don’t understand this disastrous choice

Square Enix has already demonstrated that Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth is not a carbon copy of the 1997 game. Except that certain choices are very questionable…

Finla Fantasy 7 Remake has nothing left to prove. After the first game, soberly titled Remake, it is the turn of FF7 Rebirth to be acclaimed. While keeping the essence of the 1997 software, the latter has revived a masterpiece with impressive graphics, a breathtaking open world and an equally gripping story. Rebirth also managed to make bold choices regarding the fate of some of its characters, so as not to just be a carbon copy of FF7. If certain challenges were met with flying colors, certain decisions are much more questionable and leave fans wary.

Worst design in FF7 Rebirth?

In Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, everything is more beautiful and everything is more realistic, for better or for worse. And the worst according to fans is the redesign of the Mogs. These little creatures, usually very cute, are considered the mascots of the license and appear in the many games branded Square Enix. The problem is that in FF7 Rebirth, their design has been changed. Although they generally keep the same shape, they now have more visible fur, their eyes are wide open and a blissful smile adorns their face. For some fans, these changes do not work and are almost scary.

On X, the Mog from FF7 Rebirth is having a rough time. He is now nicknamed Miguel. The creature would be wanted in 7 countries and would be capable of selling you drugs. She is sometimes compared to the actor Matthew McConaughey (Interstellar), sometimes to a usurper who thinks he is a mog. Personally, I think he looks like a koala. Tell yourself that the joke went so far that Square Enix has posted an official response : “We all love our mogs and we don’t tolerate [ce comportement]kupo!», Announced the editor in a joking tone. Needless to say, this didn’t scare anyone. “A mog just tried to sell me heroin on a street corner in Junon,” a user immediately joked.

Sorry to fans who prefer Kingdom Hearts mog, but this new design seems to be settling in well. It was already present in FF7 Remake with the Chocobo summon. We also saw it in the remaster of the Crisis Core prequel Final Fantasy 7 Reunion. There is no doubt that he will reappear, once again, in the highly anticipated sequel to FF7 Rebirth.
