The Warner Bros studio. is preparing for a disappointing box office for the third installment and could end the saga sooner than expected.
Harry Potter may be one of Warner’s golden hens, the production of the saga of fantastic animals didn’t turn out the way the studio hoped.
A chaotic saga that weary the general public
The 2016 release of the first installment was successful with no less than $812.5 million raised at the box office. The second opus, The Crimes of Grindelwaldmeanwhile, was greeted more freshly with $654.9 million in revenue, a significant drop for such a popular franchise.
The production of Fantastic Beasts: Dumbledore’s Secrets has meanwhile been a long way of the cross, between filming postponed by the pandemic, the replacement of Johnny Depp for his legal affairs, the transphobic remarks of JK Rowling, but also a rewriting along the way, and more recently, the multiple arrests of comedian Ezra Miller.
The expectation of the public also seems exhausted, and according to the magazine variety, Warner Bros. has not yet validated the start of a fourth opus. The studio and JK Rowling had however announced a few years ago a saga of five films in total, but Warner, in the event of failure, would prefer to stop there and explore new ways to continue to exploit the universe of wizards. .
The rumor has also mentioned the development of a series Harry Potter for HBO Max, and according to various analysts, Warner Bros. will have no choice but to call on its iconic characters again.
