Fast and Furious 10: Dwayne Johnson accuses Vin Diesel of “manipulation”

Last November, Vin Diesel posted a message on social media asking Dwayne Johnson to reprise his role as Luke Hobbs in the final chapter of Fast and Furious. An outstretched hand that did not have the desired effect …

Dwayne Johnson stands firm! Arrived in the Fast and Furious universe during the 5th film, the actor then participated in all the episodes, except the last one, Fast and Furious 9. The cause? A clash with the star of the saga, Vin Diesel, which does not seem about to stop.

Last July, the ex-wrestler had also confirmed that he no longer intended to participate in the franchise. But a few months later, the interpreter of Dominic Toretto had nevertheless tried to convince his former sidekick to return for Fast and Furious 10 with a message posted on Instagram.

My little brother Dwayne … the time has come. The world is waiting for the Fast 10 finale. As you know my kids call you Uncle Dwayne at home. There isn’t a party that goes by without you and them exchanging your vows … but the time has come. The inheritance awaits.

I told you years ago that I was going to keep my promise to Pablo [Paul Walker] (…) I say this for love … you have to come back, don’t leave the franchise, you have a very important role to play“, was it in particular written.

A form of manipulation that does not pass

A publication that is far from having changed the opinion of the interpreter of Luke Hobbs. “I was very surprised by Vin’s recent message. Last June, when Vin and I got in touch without going through social media, I told him directly – and in private – that I wasn’t returning to the franchise.

I was firm but cordial in my words and said that I would always support the cast and encourage the success of the franchise, but there was no way I would return.”, Explained Dwayne Johnson during an interview with CNN. And to add:

Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I did not like that he mentions his children in his message, as well as the death of Paul Walker. Leave them out of it. We talked about it several months ago and we came to a clear agreement.

The chances of seeing Luke Hobbs again in Fast and Furious therefore now seem close to nothing… unless there is yet another twist in the affair! But until the end, Dwayne Johnson was keen not to tarnish the image of this beloved series of films as he concluded:

My goal has always been to end my incredible journey with the Fast and Furious franchise with gratitude and grace. It is regrettable that this public dialogue has muddied the waters.

Regardless, I have confidence in the world of Fast and its ability to consistently satisfy audiences, and I sincerely wish my former partners and team members the best of luck and success for the next chapter.

A sequel to Hobbs & Shaw, of which here is the trailer, is however still in the pipes!
