After “Out of Nowhere” with Diane Kruger at the latest, Fatih Akin is recognized worldwide as a director. Now he’s taking the next step.

Fatih Akin (48) goes Hollywood: The Hamburg cult director became known in the whole film world at the latest with his Golden Globe award-winning film “Out of Nowhere” with Diane Kruger (45). Now the German-Turkish filmmaker is taking the next step towards a world career. As American industry magazines such as “Deadline” report, Akin has signed a contract with the American agency Sentient Entertainment through its international representation.

“It is a great honor for me to work with Fatih and his team in Hamburg and to support them in telling provocative, profound and compelling stories,” says Renee Tab, the head of Sentient Entertainment. “We are committed to expanding its reach to move audiences around the world”.

Tab founded Sentient Entertainment in 2010 as a management agency and film production company. The company’s portfolio includes the film “Maps to the Stars” (2014) by David Cronenberg (78) or the series “Feud – The Enmity Between Bette and Joan” (2017).

From Hamburg to Hollywood

Since his cinema debut, the Hamburg gangster film “Short and painless” from 1998, Fatih Akin has established himself as one of the most celebrated German directors. In 2004 “Gegen die Wand” won the Berlinale Golden Bear. His terror drama “Out of Nowhere” (2017) with superstar Kruger won the Golden Globe for best non-English language film and was shortlisted for an Oscar in the same category, but ultimately not nominated.

Fatih Akin is currently shooting his new film in Baden-Württemberg, the biopic “Rheingold” about the German gangster rapper Xatar. He has also secured the rights to the graphic novel “Buddha”, which he plans to film as a series with the support of Sentient Entertainment.
