FDP Council of States for Zurich – Ruedi Noser will no longer be a candidate in 2023 – News

  • The Zurich FDP member of the Council of States, Ruedi Noser, will no longer stand in next year’s elections.
  • The board of the Zurich Liberals now wants to send National Councilor Regine Sauter into the race.

The Zurich FDP announced that Ruedi Noser had decided not to stand in the 2023 elections. In his place, Regine Sauter is now proposed as a candidate for the 2023 Council of States elections. The 56-year-old is director of the Zurich Chamber of Commerce and was elected to the National Council in 2015.

The FDP delegates will decide on their nomination at the end of August. Daniel Jositsch (SP), who has held the second seat in the Zurich Council of States since 2015, announced in November 2020 that he wanted to run for another term.

Between 1999 and 2003, Ruedi Noser was a member of the Zurich Cantonal Council. In 2003 he was elected to the National Council. In 2015, he managed to get into the Council of States in the second ballot.

The graduate electrical engineer is the sole owner of the Noser Group, which owns several companies in Switzerland, Germany and Canada with a total of over 600 employees.
