FedEx: a platform ‘as a service’ with Microsoft

(CercleFinance.com) – FedEx and Microsoft announced Monday that they intend to extend their collaboration agreement with the establishment of a logistics platform ‘as a service’.

The two American groups say they want to combine the dimension of the FedEx network with the business applications of Microsoft Dynamics 365 in order to offer a ‘multi-platform’ intended for distributors, sellers and brands.

The idea would be to combine the data collected by FedEx with the order orchestration tools of Dynamics 365 in order to offer brands functionalities allowing them to better respond to their customers’ purchases.

In their press release, FedEx and Microsoft – which have been collaborating since 2020 – explain that they already use technologies such as artificial intelligence or machine learning to process the 17 million packages that pass through the FedEx network each day in order to offer precise lighting to client brands.

The ambitions of the two groups are apparent as the US freight transport market is expected to reach some 110 million units this year, 86% of which will come from e-commerce alone.
