Fête de la musique Who are the favorite musical artists of the French in 2022?

The years pass but the musical tastes of the French, them, do not change (or little). In any case, this is what emerges from the 5th ranking of the 100 favorite French-speaking artists of the French, unveiled on Tuesday by Crédit Mutuel* and Riffx. Of the 280 singers, bands and DJs tested by the YouGov** Institute, we find 100% 1980 generation artists such as Gilbert Montagné (68th), Émile et Images (79th Daniel Guichard (80th), or even Jeanne Mas (81st Florent Pagny (4th) Francis Cabrel (8th) and Mylène Farmer (10th) also appear in the Top 10.

On the “intergenerational icons” side, the indestructible Jean-Jacques Goldman still sits at the top of the ranking, ahead of Indochina (2nd) or Céline Dion (6th). With younger singers like Stromae (3rd) and Soprano (5th) “they are the only artists in the ranking to be acclaimed by at least 20% of each age group”, notes the music platform Riffx in its press release.

A breath of renewal in the ears of 18-24 year olds

To find a little breath of fresh air and novelty, it is better to turn to the classification of 18-24 year olds, who “do not necessarily have the same tastes as their elders”, notes Riffx modestly. We thus find Angèle, Soprano, Stromae, Nekfeu and DJ Snake at the top of their ranking, which gives pride of place to rap and hip hop artists such as Aya Nakamura, Dadju, Nihnho, Damso, Tayc or Bigflo and Oli.

Last lesson of this new barometer: “In the eyes of the public, it is always more difficult to be a singer than a singer”, summarizes Riffx. In total, only 27 women thus rank in the top 100, and three in the top 15. The 15 lucky winners of the 2022 ranking are thus Céline Dion, Mylène Farmer, Angèle, Clara Luciani, Nolwenn Leroy, Louane, Zazi, Zaz, Natasha St Pier, Véronique Sanson, Patricia Kaas, Coeur de Pirate, Françoise Hardy, Amel Bent and Catherine Ringer.
