FIGEAC AERO: INAUGURATION OF THE CASABLANCA PRODUCTION UNIT, DEDICATED TO LEAP-1A NACELLES – 02/19/2024 at 6:00 p.m.

FIGEAC AÉRO (FR0011665280 – FGA:FP), a leading partner of major aeronautics manufacturers, today announces the inauguration in Casablanca (Morocco) of its new production unit, dedicated to the production of a centerpiece of the LEAP-1A engine nacelle, in the presence of the Moroccan Minister of Industry and Trade and the Purchasing Director of Safran Nacelles.

FIGEAC AÉRO celebrated this Friday, February 16, 2024, the inauguration of the new production unit of its Moroccan subsidiary, located in the heart of the Technopôle of Mohammed V Airport in Casablanca. This event was marked by the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Ryad Mezzour, the Chairman and CEO of FIGEAC AÉRO, Mr. Jean-Claude Maillard, as well as the Purchasing Director of Safran Nacelles, Mr. Emmanuel Drouet.

The result of close cooperation between the Group’s French and Moroccan teams and the Safran Nacelles teams, the new production unit covers an area of 4,000 m². Thanks to the latest installed industrial technologies and the Group’s know-how, this unit allows the machining of large, complex parts. As such, this new site is dedicated to the production of high value-added parts for the nacelle of the Airbus A320neo equipped with LEAP-1A engines – a program with strong growth potential.

In line with its commitment to gradually reducing its carbon footprint, FIGEAC AÉRO has adopted an eco-design approach for the site, which will save more than 700 tonnes of CO2 per year compared to a standard site. Particular emphasis was placed on:

  • Optimizing energy efficiency, in particular through the installation of energy-efficient heating, air conditioning and lighting systems. In addition, the future installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof will make it possible to complete this approach by using a self-producing renewable energy source;

  • Better recovery of machining waste, in particular thanks to the recycling of cutting oils and the compaction of chips.

Another reason for satisfaction, the project schedule was perfectly respected – from the laying of the first stone in January 2023, to the first tests in July, until the validation of the first parts at the end of 2023. The new system is now ready for series production, with a gradual ramp-up in order to reach cruising speed by the end of 2024.

Born from a long-term partnership logic, this investment of 140 million dirhams, or more than

13 million euros, benefited from financial support from Safran Nacelles and the Moroccan State

. It concretizes the strong commitment of all stakeholders to an efficient and responsible aeronautics industry, capable of meeting the challenges facing the sector.

Finally, FIGEAC AÉRO recalls that the structuring contract signed with Safran Nacelles, at the origin of this project, concerns a multi-site industrial plan (France and Morocco) for an amount of nearly 140 million euros, over a period 10 years old. It thus constitutes one of the cornerstones of the ambitious turnover objective set by the Group as part of its new PILOT 28 strategic plan.
