Filmfest München: Corona defies new "pop-up" format with world premieres

To beat Corona, the Munich Film Festival has come up with a new format – it ends up in a beach chair and car armchair.

The cinema is slowly awakening from the involuntary pause so suddenly forced by the corona pandemic. And a film festival will also be back soon, albeit in a new guise. In July and August, the Munich Film Festival will use the "Pop-Up" format to respond to the current situation and deliver world premieres from the fields of film and series. In cooperation with the PopUp Autokino Munich, which was created in the parking lot of the Zenith event hall, as well as the well-known cinema on Lake Olympia, cineastes can enjoy selected German productions from July 15 to August 23.

It starts with "No Orange Tree Growing in Berlin" by and with "4 Blocks" star Kida Khodr Ramadan on July 15th. "Faking Bullshit" by Alexander Schubert and with Bjarne Mädel in the leading role follows on July 23, four days later there is the theatrical version of the web series "Lord & Schlumpfi – The Long Road to Wacken". Sebastian Marka's "Exit", among others with Friedrich Mücke, completes the program for July. All appointments start at 9:30 p.m.

In August it continues with "Hello Again" with Alicia von Rittberg and Edin Hasanovic on the 12th (9pm). For the first time and only as part of the Filmfest München Pop-Up format, the car chair can be exchanged for a beach chair on August 19 (8:30 p.m.) when the second season "Servus Baby" is on in the cinema on Lake Olympiase. At the end on August 23, it goes back to the PopUp cinema – then Klaus Lemkes "A Call Girl for Ghosts" (9 p.m.).

Interested film fans must plan an entrance of 20 euros for the PopUp drive-in cinema in addition to a mobile pedestal, then another 5 euros per passenger is due. The prices for the cinema at the Olympic Lake meanwhile cost between 13.90 and 14.90. The pre-sale with further details starts on June 25th.
