Filming with your smartphone, a use case that is not unanimous

Do you film with your smartphone? That was the question we asked you in our survey of the week. Here are the results.

With each generation of smartphones, manufacturers compete with ideas to highlight the photo qualities of their little proteges. But few are those who highlight prowess in video. When this is the case, we often speak more of gimmicks, of a little extra functionality, but rarely of a real, frank and massive gain.

Generally, video ads come after the photo ad, which is much more meaningful. We do not yet have a buying guide dedicated to this theme, although the guide dedicated to the best photophones has existed for several years.

We can certainly attribute this situation to the fact that Apple has long dominated the competition on this point with its iPhones. But isn’t the evil deeper? Some in the editorial staff raised the idea that maybe the video wasn’t that interesting to phone buyers. That basically, on a daily basis, apart from a few family evenings, we weren’t used to taking advantage of this feature.

Do you often film with your smartphone?

For this reason, and to see more clearly, we have chosen to ask you the question directly: do you use your smartphone to film?

Casually, a real trend emerges at the end of the survey: you are 47.3% to rarely film with your phone, or even 16.3% who never use this function. These two camps together tend to show one thing: filming with your smartphone seems to be a more marginal practice than mainstream.

Reader Geoffrey Vannerum, for example, shares his feedback with us. “Just a few videos during the holidays, the rest of the time I almost never make them even though my phone (Oppo Find X3 pro) is very good at videos “.

Nevertheless, the video also has its small batch ofaficionados: 25.4% of participants use it from time to time, i.e. a quarter of voters all the same. Finally, 11% of you use it all the time, which is not an overwhelming majority either.
