Final Fantasy 7: Get an exclusive NFT on the game’s anniversary

The NFT’s are a hotly debated topic in the video game industry… and in all industries around the world. Their ecological impact raises questions and many companies therefore choose to avoid them. This is not the case of Square Enix, which has just announced its partnership with Enjina rather influential NFT ecosystem, in producing various NFTs related to the licensing universe.

An unusual partnership

This is what you will soon have the opportunity to discover through this unusual collaboration between Square Enix and Enjin. Blockchain-friendly company qualifies as “an eco-conscious alternative to using blockchain that provides environmentally friendly solutions for building decentralized gaming products”. According to the company, they will be able to produce, by 2030, NFTs having no carbon impact on the environment.

If we know the story of the seventh opus of Final Fantasythe launch of Square Enix in a system that is debated on many levels, including the ecological level, can be surprising.

However, the machine is running, and a collection of digital cards celebrating the 25th anniversary of Final Fantasy 7 will be published on the Efinity cross-chain network. These will also be available to those who purchase items from the physical collection, which is scheduled to launch in 2023.

“This partnership marks a transitional phase for digital assets and entertainment; Square Enix, an esteemed developer with iconic intellectual property, is leading the way for the industry.

By using Efinity, fans can access interactive NFTs without even realizing they are on the blockchain. Enjin can establish the next phase of growth in blockchain entertainment, by fusing curiosity and creativity.”

Cloud in NFT

However, the purchase page of this figurine has a section “Be careful before buying”specifying: “In the event that Enjin services become unavailable in the future, you may lose access to the NFT Digital Certificate of Authenticity and digital version of the figure”.

The launch of this collection celebrating the 25th anniversary of the game therefore coincides with the ambitions of the president of Square Enix, Yosuke Matsudawho said earlier this year that NFTs and blockchain would be a major part of the future of the gaming industry.

In the meantime, the 25th anniversary of the seventh opus will have greatly spoiled fans of the license, with the arrival of Intergrade on Steam, a Crisis Core remaster and more details revealed on FFVII Rebirth!
