This odd product collaboration happened because the Striking Distance team opened their studio in San Ramon, California, not far from Fieldwork’s restaurant at City Center Bishop Ranch. We can learn that a fair amount of developers went to Fieldwork for a drink, so the two companies decided to work together to create… a beer concept The Callisto Protocol. Fieldwork says about it:
While the game was being designed for the past three years, key members of the development team took a short walk down the road to Fieldwork to sample craft beers and discuss the day’s progress on their new game. then unannounced.
