Legislation is responsible for the fact that you cannot simply replace halogen lamps with LED lamps in every car. “In fact, nothing speaks against it,” says Kerbl. At home in the living room we simply use LED lamps. So there is not yet a general approval for cars, Osram is going the detour via approvals for individual vehicles. This is time-consuming, but it could pave the way for more manufacturers and, above all, European legislation to take the LED route. “It could be so far in around two years,” said Kerbl.
