The arsonist inmate, aged 20, and two 35-year-old police officers were hospitalized in a “light condition” at the Besançon University Hospital, the firefighters announced in an intervention report. They evacuated 11 detainees and 21 police officers.

“All staff were able to return to the premises”

The 10 other detainees were “taken care of by the gendarmerie”, they specify. The fire, which started on the ground floor, was extinguished. At the end of the intervention, “all staff were able to return to the premises”.

The intervention mobilized 26 firefighters and nine engines.
