Screen syncing on Fire TV: Here’s how

To start, make sure that both the Fire TV Stick and the corresponding Apple device are on the same network. This is the only way to later transfer the screen via AirPlay.

  1. Turn on the Fire TV Stick on the TV.
  2. From the home screen, select “Search” and then type “AirPlay” in the appropriate bar.
  3. From the search results, go to the AirScreen app.
  4. Select “Download” to install the application. Depending on the internet connection, this may take a moment. The program is free. Additional in-app purchases are not required for the functions described.
  5. Then click on “Open”.
  6. Once the app has started, select “Confirm” and then scan the QR code displayed on the TV screen with an iPhone or iPad.
  7. A browser window will now open on your Apple device. Decide with a tap whether you want to share the entire screen or just in-app content on the TV.
  8. After that, swipe through the usage notes until you get a device name for the streaming stick.
  9. Close the window on your iPhone or iPad and open Control Center. To do this, swipe down from the top-right corner of the mobile device. On devices running iOS 11 or earlier, swipe up from the bottom of the screen instead.
  10. Tap Screen Sync, then select Fire TV Stick. It can be recognized by the previously specified device name.
  11. The screen of your iPhone or iPad can then be seen on the TV.
  12. To end the transfer, go to “Stop syncing” on the relevant Apple device via the control center.
