For the kindergartens – the city demands nationwide test guidelines

After the mayors in the rural communities – the “Krone” reported – the city of Salzburg is now also entering the test debate on all aspects of local kindergartens with Vice Mayor Bernhard Auinger (SPÖ). Because there are no uniform guidelines and rules for the providers, mostly the municipalities, as to how tests should be carried out on the youngest.

“Passing this responsibility on to the bearers is an imposition,” says Auinger. It must be made clear to him how, when and how often the tests should be carried out and whether these tests are mandatory or voluntary. Regional Councilor Andrea Klambauer (Neos) continues to rely on voluntariness. In other words, it relies on the parents to test their children themselves. That partially worked on Monday. Some parents even tested their children in front of the facilities after receiving the tests. Even if that makes up a large part of it, the omicron variant might not be enough. For Auinger it is clear that the facilities need a test strategy like the one used in schools. This should at least serve as a model. By the way, the city has had its own strict rules for its facilities since September.
