This is in any case what indicates a search query, made on the page dedicated to Mesa within the site FreeDesktop, by Valve via Charlie Turner. The latter is a programming consultant for Igalia, an agency specializing in innovative open-source solutions.
Something to do with Black Mesa…
For a few months, we have known that the Steam Deck, expected in February, will ship a Radeon graphics chip. We also know that SteamOS is based on the Linux operating system. Thus, it seems more than relevant that Valve is interested in developing Mesa, which turns out to be the perfect marriage between these two elements.
Hailed by Linux gamers for its versatility, Mesa’s development has so far been limited by its number of users. By investing in its growth, Valve could thus offer it much more fertile ground.
Charlie Turner underlines this very well in his request on the page dedicated to Mesa of FreeDesktop :
” This series proposes to offer more tests at Mesa, sponsored by Valve. Until then, these tests were conditioned by a selection of users. Since there were not enough machines to collect sufficient data, the development of Mesa was slowed down accordingly. Anyone interested can now request access to the test. »
Here is excellent news for this little-known pilot and for his few already loyal users. From there to open a portal to Xen and the providential arrival of Gordon Freeman in Half Life 3, there is only one more test…
