In Forrest Gump, the hero runs. Many. Precisely 3 years, 2 months, 14 days and 16 hours according to the hero, or more than 30,000 kilometers (moreover, can we survive such an effort?). But did you know that it wasn’t always Tom Hanks that we saw running around on screen?
As Robert Zemeckis’ cult six-Oscar film airs this Tuesday night on W9, we reveal who overtakes Tom Hanks in some racing scenes. A person the Hollywood star knows particularly well.
Several Forrest Gump racing scenes are therefore not performed by Tom Hanks, but by … Jim Hanks, his younger brother! A perfect lining as the two men, who are five years apart, physically resemble each other. It should be noted that the film is a real family affair, since Elizabeth, Tom’s daughter, embodies the one who refuses the hero to sit beside her on the school bus.
But back to our two Hanks brothers, whose collaboration does not end with Forrest Gump. Because more astonishing, Jim, whose voice is almost identical to that of Tom, often replaced the latter to double vocally … Woody, the hero of Toy Story!
Jim Hanks did not lend his voice to Woody in the four Pixar cinematic installments, but did this work for animated shorts (the recent La Vie en lumière) or spin-offs (Buzz Lightyear, the movie), video games, audio books, attractions and talking toys featuring the famous cowboy!
