In a video interview with Konbini, the LFI deputy for the Somme indicated that he would not run away if he was in the best position to “represent the most invisible of the nation”.

Will François Ruffin be Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s successor in 2027? The subject looks like an old sea serpent and invites itself from time to time within La France Insoumise. Questioned on Sunday by the online media Konbini, the emblematic deputy of the Somme again raised some clues. “I don’t think about it in the morning while shaving or running, but I know that there is a duty today to represent the most invisible of the nation”, he began. Before explaining: “They need to be carried by a voice of hope which is on the left and which is not depressed, on the far right. If one day, I have to embody that, I will do it”.

Not the first signal

This is not the first time that François Ruffin has mentioned a presidential candidacy. As early as March 2019, he told the Figaro than Jean-Luc Melenchon “encouraged him not to close the door”. “He said to me: ‘If one day the flag is on the ground and it is you who must raise it, you will do it and you will carry it'”, he confided. MP, director of Thanks boss!nevertheless admitted at the time that he did not “didn’t see as a statesman”that he had “trouble getting into the costume”. Has it evolved since?

Until now, François Ruffin has always indicated that he would not be a candidate against Jean-Luc Mélenchon. “Media, do not dream. There will be no duel with my friend Jean-Luc Mélenchon. Our strengths combine to “do better”“, he had warned in a tweet, in November 2022. But if the ex-candidate of La France Insoumise did not return there a fourth time in 2027? The name of François Ruffin returns to the top of the list of potential successors. In the meantime, the MP already has an idea for his first measure in the event of a presidential victory: “I think I would open the Élysée gardens so that there would be a beautiful popular festival taking place inside.“.
