free content and a surprise for PS5 players

Ratchet & Clank Remake celebrates its 8th anniversary this month. To mark the occasion, Insomniac Games is giving the game and players some great gifts, including free content.

The first Ratchet & Clank Remake (originally released in 2002) made many changes to the original game. With this anniversary update, it still sees many changes, which are free for its owners.

A free PS5 Remaster of the Ratchet & Clank Remake

Before the excellent Marvel’s Spider-Man games, Insomniac Games made a name for itself thanks to the fun and colorful duo Ratchet & Clank. The first game in the series was released in 2002, then received a Remake in 2016 on PS4 to coincide with the release of its film adaptation. During the exercise, the game underwent numerous modifications both in its gameplay and in its structure. Certain weapons present in the base game were notably conspicuous by their absence. This is particularly the case for the Rebounder, previously available on the Remake as a pre-order bonus guide.

Insomniac Games corrects this pitfall with an update aimed at celebrating 8 years of the revisitation of the original Ratchet & Clank game. This popular bomb-throwing weapon that explodes into several small bouncing bombs can now be picked up as free DLC. This isn’t the only free thing coming to the game for its birthday. An upgrade to PS5 has also been rolled out. This allows owners of the game on PS4 to enjoy it at 60 FPS, among other new generation goodies.

In any case, here is a nice way to reconnect with the iconic intergalactic duo in the best conditions. Insomniac Games is not finished with Ratchet & Clank. After the brilliant Rift Apart, a new opus would be in the works. Fans will have to be very patient, however, as its release is not scheduled before 2029. In the meantime, the studio will indeed be very busy with the numerous and lucrative Spider-Man games it is responsible for for PlayStation.
