Google will release an update for Google Photos in May. With this, the manufacturer makes numerous AI features free of charge that you previously had to pay for.

Along with the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro, Google introduced the Magic Editor last fall. It is part of Google Photos and allows professional image editing even without prior knowledge. This is made possible by the use of artificial intelligence (AI). You can use them to move objects in the image or swap the sky.
Magic Editor isn’t Google Photos’ only AI tool. The Magic Eraser for removing objects, Portrait Light for illuminating portrait photos and Photo Unblur for sharpening noisy images are others. Previously, all of these tools were only available to you on select Pixel devices with a Google One subscription. That’s changing now.
From May, the tools will be rolled out for all Pixel devices as well as Android phones from other manufacturers and the iPhone, provided the respective models meet the minimum requirements, Google said in a blog post. A subscription is no longer required for use. However, in the free version you can only edit 10 images per month with the Magic Editor. If you want to edit more, you have to take out a subscription. As before, this costs 100 euros per year, because Google requires a Google One Premium subscription.
To enjoy the features, your cell phone must be running Android 8.0 or higher or iOS 15 or higher. Google also requires 4 gigabytes of RAM.
