Free’s mid-range package, “Free Series”, has just experienced its second price increase in a few days. It now costs 11.99 euros per month.
No new Freebox this week or new connected security offer for Xavier Niel’s operator. On the other hand, Free has made a big impact on one of its mobile plans, with an increase of two euros in its Free Series in the space of two weeks. The company had however committed not to touch its mobile offers, so why such a change?
2 euros more for the Free Series package
At the end of March 2024, the Free 140 GB Series from Free Mobile was priced at 9.99 euros/month for one year, before switching to the Free 5G Package at 19.99 euros/month (or 15.99 euros/month for Freebox subscribers) beyond the first year of subscription. Since then, the package has increased twice.
At the beginning of April, the Free Series experienced an initial increase, going from 9.99 to 10.99 euros for the first year of subscription. And then a few days later, around mid-April, the operator added one more euro to the Free Series package, increasing it from 10.99 euros to 11.99 euros/month.
Beyond the first year of subscription, the price of the package remains unchanged, since it automatically transforms into a Free 5G Package: 15.99 euros/month for Freebox subscribers, or 19.99 euros for others. Let us remind you in passing that this package remains without commitment, and that it is possible to cut it at any time, even if a price change is programmed beyond the first twelve months.
Free will not change the prices of its mobile plans until 2027
There is a logical explanation for this price increase. Yes, Free renewed its commitment at the beginning of the year to block the prices of its mobile plans until 2027. But this declaration only applies to the brand’s two historic offers: the 2-euro plan and the Free 5G plan. . Even if this double increase may irritate some users, Free has not betrayed its initial promise. And we know that the operator will not refrain from lowering the price again in the future.
In this Free Series package, the subscriber has 140 GB on the operator’s 4G network, as well as unlimited calls, SMS and MMS in France and to the overseas territories, in addition to an 18 GB/month data envelope in 4G from Europe and the French Overseas Territories. The Free Series offer also includes the Free Ligue 1 app, for football fans.
