French kiss: the instructions for an ideal kiss: Femme Actuelle Le MAG

Across the world, there are different kinds of kisses to express affection, love and desire to your partner. The butterfly kiss is characterized by a delicate flick of the eyelash on the cheek, while the Eskimo kiss involves rubbing your nose against that of your loved one. The most famous of kisses, however, remains the famous French kiss!

In Spain, this kiss is called "beso frances", but also "frencher" in Canada and "french kiss" in Anglo-Saxon countries. Also known as the "Florentine kiss", the French kiss is considered a sensual and languid embrace. During the kiss, the two partners explore each other's mouth, tongue and lips.

French kiss: how to practice it?

There is no such thing as a miracle method to be sure to succeed in a French kiss: the key is to let go and let yourself be guided by your desires. But there are some tips that can help you have a pleasant and loving time. First point: take your time. Avoid at all costs jumping on your other half to kiss it, especially since the whole point of the French kiss lies in the languid aspect of this kiss.

"Maybe start with a kiss on the forehead, then a kiss on the tip of the nose and finally a kiss on the lips", recommends Marissa Nelson, a graduate sexual and relationship therapist in Washington, to US glamor. When you feel confident, open your mouth and loosen your jaw. You and your other half can then intertwine your tongues and discover the different erogenous zones present on the mouth. Try to find the rhythm that suits you both and enjoy the moment: the French kiss gradually increases desire.

"Kiss the top of the lips, the bottom, then pass your tongue between the lips (…) You can play with your partner's tongue for a few seconds, then suck the top and bottom of their lips. When you start to savor the moment, you can increase the pressure and intensity", also recommends the specialist.

On the technical side, you can also tilt your head slightly to keep your nose and your partner's nose from hitting each other when kissing. If you are a little anxious or stressed, you can close your eyes so that you can live the moment to the fullest.

"What makes the quality of the French kiss is to be present but also to be passionate. You have to be in the moment. When you kiss someone, you tell them, "I'm passionate about you. I want to connect more deeply. I want to build intimacy with you." You are trying to communicate to someone that you care about them, do not get so obsessed with technique", also underlines on US glamor Chris Donaghue, doctor of clinical psychology and sex therapist in California.

During the kiss, it is better to avoid sitting with your arms dangling or your hands in your pockets. "The place where your hands are indicates information. If they are wrapped around your partner, it naturally adds passion and intensity.", adds Dr. Chris Donaghue. Take the opportunity to touch your partner's hair, hold their hands, gently run your fingers along their back or neck.

What are the benefits of the French kiss?

According to a study published in 2015 in the journal American Anthropology, the French kiss is not a universal kiss. Only 43% of the world's population practice it. To reach this conclusion, researchers in Indiana, United States, conducted a study of 168 different cultures. The South American and African populations are not the most fond of this type of kiss. Conversely, people in the Middle East regard kissing the tongue as the norm for a couple.

But does the French kiss have any effects on the body? The answer is yes ! "When kissing, our body releases a hormone, oxytocin, which nourishes attachment. In addition, the testosterone level increases when we get closer to kiss: this hormone is very involved in sexual motivation, kissing certainly maintains desire ", explained Lucy Vincent, neurobiologist, to our colleagues Psychology Magazine in 2010.

According to several scientific researches, the French kiss would also have a biological utility. Kissing with the tongue would identify the partners with whom we have the most biological compatibility. "Humans don't have strong scent skills and kissing can smell a person to see if they have different immune responses, as we tend to feel more attracted to someone with a different immune response. ", explained Dr Sarah Johns, specialist in human reproduction and evolutionary psychology at the University of Kent (UK), at The Independent.

According to Michel Raymond, researcher in human evolutionary biology at the University of Montpellier II, the French kiss would also have a biological utility: it would make it possible to assess the state of health of the partner and to identify the person most able to conceive a child with us. "It allows unconscious access, via saliva, to the concentration of certain hormones (testosterone, cortisol) and physiological information, such as the partner's stress level ", he detailed to Sciences and Life.
