French tribute to caregivers

Born on social networks, a call to applaud the nursing staff on their balcony, who is fighting against the coronavirus, has been followed in many cities in France. Support that meets every evening.

Simply magnificent. To deal with the coronavirus contaminations that multiply every day and to thank the professionalism of the health staff, many French people confined have decided to applaud them from their balconies and windows. An initiative from Italy and Spain, where our neighbors, who have been quarantined for several days already, also pay tribute to the personnel who are coping with the crisis.

It all started Tuesday, March 17, the day 1 of the containment in France, a call ran on social networks, under the hashtag #Applaudit. He was then relayed by a number of political figures, including the deputy La France Insoumise Clémentine Autain, or the MEP Raphaël Glucksmann.

Momentum throughout France

From Strasbourg to Ajaccio, the population answered the call. From building to building, the applause resounded. An instant suspended in time. A country united in a common sound, a true fraternal communion.
"I applauded, I was all alone. It may be at 8 pm. But I don't care I applauded anyway. Thank you guys.", Posted an anonymous person on Twitter around 7:05 pm.

Doctors and nurses thanked the people who applauded them. While recalling that the best way to help them is still to respect the containment measures imposed by the government.

Emmanuel Macron had praised the work of medical personnel in his last speech, thanking the "heroes in white coats" who are fighting against the epidemic.
