Friends: New date for the shooting of the reunion special

The reunion special of the popular cult comic "Friends" is eagerly awaited by fans around the world. However, filming for HBO-Max production moved far away in the spring due to the coronavirus pandemic. Now there is an update to a possible new date – because film and television productions in the USA are slowly starting up again.

Hope for August

Marta Kauffman (63) once had the idea for "Friends" together with David Crane (62). She is also involved in the reunion special. In an interview with "The Wrap" she said: "We hope that we can shoot in August if everything goes well, there is no early second wave and the studio is open." The shooting depends on whether they can "do a good show under the given conditions," says Kauffman. If everything fits, the reunion special will be produced sometime "mid to late August".

All six leading actors, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer, are there. However, they will not slip into their roles from the sitcom again, but act as themselves.

Marta Kauffman promised that they would try to make the special "not just feel like a mini documentary". There will be components that are "fresh and new". There is no scheduled broadcast date yet.
