After the sudden death of “Friends” star Matthew Perry (1969-2023) on October 28th, there are the first new findings. According to TMZ, no drugs were found in his home, but numerous prescription medications were found. The US celebrity portal is considered well-informed and was the first to report on the tragic incident. Perry was found dead in his hot tub on Saturday. He was only 54 years old. Meanwhile, fans are also honoring the series star at the “Friends” building in New York.
Antidepressants and anti-anxiety medications
“TMZ” cites “law enforcement sources.” Accordingly, antidepressants, anti-anxiety medicine and a COPD medication were found in the actor’s home in the Los Angeles area. COPD is the abbreviation for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease – this is a permanent lung disease that narrows the airways. It is not curable, but can be easily treated. Matthew Perry was a heavy smoker. The Los Angeles County coroner will conduct a toxicology exam, TMZ reports. This is intended to determine whether Perry was under the influence of medication at the time of death. However, it could take “months” for the results to be known.

Afterwards, according to TMZ in a new report, he allegedly instructed his assistant to pick him up a new iPhone and a pair of prescription glasses. When the man returned to the house after about two hours, he discovered Perry. First he is said to have called the emergency number and then the actor’s mother.
The deceased became world famous for his role as Chandler Bing in the 90s cult series “Friends”. He appeared in all ten seasons from 1994 to 2004 and earned up to a million dollars per episode. But at the same time he was also struggling with major addiction problems. After “Friends” ended, he was no longer able to build on the success and only received smaller role offers. In his biography “Friends, Lovers and the Big Terrible Thing,” published in November 2022, he reported in detail about his years of addiction and described how it had gotten him into life-threatening situations several times.
