FSR 2.0 already available for Xbox Series developers, nothing on PS5 yet

AMD spares no effort to convince developers to exploit its super-sampling technique.

A few hours after the announcement of the open source distribution of the FidelityFX Super ResolutionAMD specifies that the thing will soon approach the console world… well, the Xbox world at least.

FSR 2.0 on Xbox Series… and Xbox One!

It was through a simple tweet that Jason Ronald confirmed the news. The head of press relations for the Xbox brand explained that the FidelityFX Super Resolution would soon no longer be exclusive to the PC since it is coming to Xbox.

Jason Ronald specifies that the Xbox development teams have already received enough to deploy the FSR in its 2.0 version and that they are currently carrying out numerous tests in order to make it possible to deploy the technology in games.

Remember that the FSR – in version 1.0 or 2.0 – can calculate an image in a lower definition than that actually displayed. To fill the “gaps”, powerful algorithms are used with often impressive results.

For the player, it is then a question of benefiting from a finer display, more beautiful images without the fluidity of the animation having to suffer: one can then aim for 60 frames per second, even 120 ips , in definitions like 1440p or, why not, 4K.

More interesting and while the announcement ignores the PlayStation 5 whose hardware is very close to that of the Xbox Series, we learn that in addition to the Xbox Series X and S, the FSR will also tumble on the aging Xbox One . What give it a second youth?
