Fugue from a psychiatric hospital in Toulouse: the patient found in Paris

This is at least the fourth runaway in two weeks in psychiatric hospitals in Toulouse.

A new patient fled from the Gérard Marchant psychiatric hospital in Toulouse on Friday, before being found in Paris on Saturday evening. This patient was arrested in the 9th arrondissement of the capital.

Aged 43, he had been indicted for a rape committed in 2011 before a dismissal was pronounced in 2013.

Additional measures “requested by the ARS, in vain

These serial leaks are worrying.

“Additional security measures had been requested by the director general of ARS Occitanie in the psychiatric services in Toulouse, to avoid any new patient runaways”, explains the Regional Health Agency.

These measures, which directly targeted the Gérard Marchant hospital and the Purpan university hospital center in Toulouse, involved, among other things, “the securing of entrances and exits” and “the strengthening of patient monitoring”, specifies the institution.

On January 19, the “cannibal of the Pyrenees” attacks a septuagenarian

Thursday morning, a 32-year-old man, considered “very dangerous”, and hospitalized in the psychiatric emergency department of the Purpan hospital in Toulouse, also fled before being arrested a few hours later.

Sunday January 23, a 48-year-old patient, interned after a murder in 2010, had run away from the Gérard Marchant psychiatric hospital in Toulouse before being found not far from the hospital.

On Wednesday January 19, another man had suddenly left this same establishment: it was Jérémy Rimbaud nicknamed the “cannibal of the Pyrenees” who, during his escape, violently hit on the head with a wooden bar a septuagenarian who was walking his dog down the street. Passers-by had intervened to control him. This man was interned in 2013 after killing a 90-year-old farmer before trying to burn him in Nouilhan, in the Hautes-Pyrénées. He had ripped out her heart and tongue and was preparing to eat them. Aged 26 at the time, a former soldier, he told investigators that he “heard voices”.

The woman who was assaulted by Jérémy Rimbaud filed a complaint against her attacker but also against the establishment.

In Agen, in the Lot-et-Garonne, on Monday January 24, a man fled from the psychiatric establishment in which he resided. He was finally found more than 100 km away, in Toulouse, in a hotel room.
